Plastic Album Interview

On August 3, 2018 our Music Listener Premiere Team interviewed Nicholas DeMarco from Clarendon Road about their new upcoming compilation album "Clarendon Road Presents: A Plastic Free Record." The new record will be out on August 24th and up for pre-order on the 15th.
So tell us about the artists that are going to be featured on the album Well we have many artists that are going to be featured on this album, and they come from many different places around the world. We are featuring 2 songs from an artist named Sam Mackrill, and I'm Pretty sure he's from Great Britain. Actually, just days before we were getting ready to send the album in for post production, I found his song "Rune" on YouTube, and I knew right then and there that it had to be featured on the album! We also have an artist who wrote our lead single from the album named Simon Wrigley. He is a very accomplished artist from Australia, with his "Plastic Bag Song" video spawning over 15,000 views on YouTube! What made Simon an artist that you thought would write a song for you guys for the album? Well he actually didn't write the song for us, I just found it on his website. He was actually the first artist that I reached out too. But he was a hard artist to contact because I noticed that his website hadn't been updated in a long while, and I couldn't find an email, so I just commented if I could use the song on his newest YouTube video. He responded right away and thought it was a great idea! Now I see that you have Two Roads Plastic Project record more songs for you guys! How did you get them to do this? Well they are a local band and we have become friends since they wrote "We Will Save the World" in (Which is also featured on the new album) in 2017. They have now recorded 4 new songs for this album! You also had a charting artist Rayge DeMarco featured on your album! I got him because he is my dad (laughs)! Yeah "Fear 18" is a great song and I wanted to include the song! Also I heard that you have some of your friends at the Bahamas Plastic Movement that are featured on the album. Yeah! Everyone in the Bahamas is so nice and they agreed to make some songs for us. One of the songs is kind of the Bahamas Plastic Movement theme song called "We are the Solution." That version was recorded live by them at the Algalita POPS Plastic Conference this year. We also have two other original songs by Plastic Warriors in the Bahamas. One is an acapella song called "So Pick it Up" by Javanna Rankine. And the other is by Amaya Boodoo and is a short and sweet song called "Plastic in de Back Yard." The album also features a remix of that song ("Plastic in de Back Yard 9") that we couldn't erase from the album due to distribution issues. Another artist that you worked with on the album in the Notorious Hedgehog who is another artist that writes songs about the environment. What was the experience with him? Yeah they have written a lot of songs about animals but never about the environment. Also this is the first song that they are not the main artist on. But it was defiantly an experience to write a song with them. So have you met any of the artists that you worked with? I have of course met my dad, and Two Roads Plastic Project, but really no one else! I have messaged with Sam Mackrill, the Notorious Hedgehog, and LNG. They were all really nice. We are currently working on some lyric videos for plastic pollution. Also we are planning on having a lyric video for of LNG's songs. Okay so thank you for joining us Nicholas! No Thank you for having me! |
